Today's day began with a bath - not mine but a washcloth bath for Mr. Steve. Boy was that fun!
Mr. Steve has not had a shower since Magee. Remember he said that he was NOT going to take a shower until he got home - well this might just happen. This rehab does not have the routine as Magee does. I don't even know if they do showers since he has not been out of bed since he arrived either time he was there. But I won't go there. I figured that since he will be coming home soon I had better get into the routine. Tammy the nurse said I did great. I just needed her help to move him up and put his clothes on better. He is only able to move his right side so this is a difficult process to do alone.
With all that has gone on this past week I am planning on bringing Steve home soon. I will let you all know probably tomorrow for sure what the plan is. He is really doing better. With his vision better and the visit to Virtua to assure him that he is physically fine - I think we have hurdled over some unsure waters in Steve's mind. He seemed much more alert yesterday and today. He is even allowing me to do some physical therapy stuff with him. We talk about Anna and Ella and his love for swimming with them to detract his attention. Today he didn't even know I was moving his hand. And then on the other hand - he was screaming and moaning when I wasn't doing anything.
This will be a very busy week as we prepare for Steve's arrival at home. Please be in prayer overdrive for us. There is planning and preparations with equipment. Thank you so much.

Hey Steve...David had a wonderful wedding. At the reception I kept thinking about you. I was wondering how you were doing. I reminded my boys to be praying for you. You have a wonderful wife and daughter who will take great care of you. Much love to you all. Jan D
Mr. Steve, I think Jesus built such a close relationship with Mary, Martha and Lazarus because he knew what they were going to go through for his Father's glory. He knew Lazarus was going to get sick, that they would call on him, that He (the one they had come to believe in as the Messiah) would not respond right away when he was called. he knew what they were going to suffer through, what they would do, how they would respond, and that His Father was going to be glorified in it all. He knows. He can see you guys, He hasn't forgotten and is working- in us all who are suffering. When you are hurting try to imagine Jesus' pain...the stripes on his back, the beard being plucked, the crown of thorns shoved down on his skull, the nails being hammered into the palm of each hand and into his feet, the cross being stood up and plowed into the ground, his body jerking with the movement, the sword being peirced into his side, the degredation of being spit on. And then three days in hell!!! so we will never, ever have to know that experience!
My heart is made braver because of your heart for God in all of this! I love you guys and can I say it again.....Thank you. The memories you given me of kindness and love are some of the most precious. No matter what I did, I knew you cared. Same with the Weltes. In Christ, Laura M.
I will both lay me down and sleep in peace for you alone Oh, Lord, make me to dwell in safety. May the Lord bless you and keep you, holding you in the palm of his hand. May the Lord strengthen and settle you, make his face to shine upon you. May you feel the softness of his breath as you hear the whispering of his voice, that your heart will respond and leap with joy and so you will find that peaceful slumbering rest. In Jesus' name I pray and ask that he will be the one glorified amen.
I will be excited to hear how incredibly God works all this out for you all. He has done so many incredible things already!
Hugs,
Julie
Steve and Jan, Kimberly and Kevin,
I have been reading about once a week and catching up, but you are on my mind almost daily. The way you guys have come together as a family has really been an inspiration to Deb and I. You guys are incredible. I am continually reminded to pray for you guys as a family as well as specifically for Steve and am encouraged how God is doing his work in Steve's life. Talk about a story of redeeming a life. Steve, God has been busy bringing you back your whole life. I remember a day at the Cove when you were on a couch in the lobby and I thought that you were "going home" right there and then. It looked like you were "done". But, God wasn't done with you then, and he still isn't done with you. Jan has said that you are encouraged and blessed by these responses, but know that I have been encouraged and blessed by hearing yor story as relayed by Jan and the kids.
Stay true and stay strong in God's strength.
